OUR MISSION
Beginning with the 2021/2022 school year, the Hudson Athletic Booster Club is transforming how we support student athletes and the athletic programs in which they participate at Hudson High School. We believe this new approach will allow us to provide more value and opportunity for all teams throughout the year. Here is a snapshot of how HABC will function going forward:
1) New uniforms – Annual Budget Amount = $25,000
Athletic Director Mike Chuppa has provided HABC with a “new uniform” calendar. HABC will provide the funds to purchase new uniforms based upon this calendar. For teams that have athletes that purchase their own uniforms (wrestling, golf, etc), HABC will provide funds, in an amount defined by AD Mike Chuppa, for those programs to use on other items in lieu of uniforms.
2) Facility/Capital Improvement Fund – Annual Budget Amount = $12,500
HABC will deposit these funds into an account to be used for items such as weight room upgrades and other facility/field improvements or replacements. As an example, HABC donated $17,000 for last weight room equipment upgrade.
3) HABC Scholarships – Annual Budget Amount = $4000
HABC is increasing the amount of scholarship money provided annually to one male and one female student athlete. Previously, HABC provided $1000 per student athlete, but we are raising that to $2000 per student athlete.
4) Ray Hyser Awards – Annual Budget Amount = $3000
HABC will continue to sponsor the Ray Hyser award which is presented to one student athlete on each varsity team.
5) Grant Requests – Annual Budget Amount = $40,000 - $50,000
This is our most significant change, and we are very excited about this path. Previously, HABC provided teams an opportunity to earn HABC donations in the form of “earned funds”. These were earned by volunteering for concessions, volunteering for Tag Day, etc. The amounts were generally $25 per volunteer. This made it difficult for teams to realistically earn enough funds to make an impact for their team…especially if that team has a small roster.
Beginning this year, HABC will start setting aside funds to provide to teams in the form of grants. We believe this will allow HABC to have a much more significant impact in the support of our student athletes. As an example, if a team has a need that totals $3000 (and is not funded under their athletic department budget), under our previous model it would take years to earn enough volunteer “earned funds”. Now, that team can submit a grant request to HABC for those funds. HABC will work in coordination with Mr. Chuppa to prioritize and approve grant requests.
With our new structure, HABC will have an annual fundraising need of approximately $95,000. By joining HABC with the purchase of a 2021/2022 membership, you are helping us work towards meeting this fundraising goal and ensuring our student athletes have everything they need for a successful Fall, Winter, or Spring sports season.
Thank you all for your incredible support!
